I box modeled two objects in the scene: the pointy puffer fish and the octopus. The anchor was modeled using image planes and then once I was finished, I realized it was missing the circular area on top so I combined them using a boolean. I bump mapped the material that was applied to the plane, and scaled it to the exact same size as the image that was tiled to give it a realistic bump effect that matched the material exactly. This was beyond the scope of the required project features and I think probably my favorite aspect of the scene. I also added fog and a slight film grain to increase the realism of an underwater scene. I used mult-sub-object material application on the eyes of the puffer fish. I created a metal-like material to apply to the anchor and lit the scene appropriately to show detail of the objects. I also added a few rocks to add interest to the scene.

  1. Really unique, almost charcoaly effect. Looks great.

  2. The sculpt jobs for both the anchor and the octopus are great, and also I like the texture that you used on landscape.
