Main Source for Presentation
I did my presentation on the 3D artwork that is used in the series Battlestar Galactica. The series has won an Emmy for Outstanding Visual Effects in a Series. They use Lightwave for most scenes but also use Maya to render the Cylons. I couldn't find any information why they use different programs for this. One thing that impressed me was the amount of detail in each wireframe mesh of ships - there is almost no space between each line. One of the most significant techniques utilized to add realism to the scenes was the camera style in which their scenes were rendered. The camera style mimics documentary style footage with zooming and reframing.
